Whew! Posted late today - I was hiding, as part of my preparation for the next Olympics in the first American Hide-and-Go-Seek team... It was just a few hours, so I'm building up. The real training will begin soon, as I build up stamina.

This is a great article that I found on Gail's blog. Let me explain. No, there is too much - let me sum up (3 points if you catch my movie reference!) It says that unfortunately things are still being marketed as if women only like pretty and men only like power. So the reason I bought my car, for example, had nothing to do with the months of research I did, taking into account reliability, gas mileage, overall cost, safety and so on. Nope. I bought sweet Norman because I liked the color he came in. Now, I love the color of my car. But I also love that I can fill up the tank for less than $20 and go nearly 500 miles on it. I love the fact that it fits me and is very comfortable to me. I love that I know this baby's gonna last a long time, since my family tends to drive cars into the ground. Anyway, it's a great article from a very articulate woman, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I have a date with my husband tonight. After bringing home a (much needed) dozen roses to placate his moody, emotional, a hurt-feelinged-wife last night, he called my work today and asked me out on a date. Since I so rarely turn down handsome men who bring me roses, I accepted, and we'll go to my favorite restaurant (Carrabba's) and see Spiderman, since the list of movies he's interested in other than that led me to believe he'd never actually met me before.

And hardly any fiber news! I don't think I did a thing yesterday, but I plied my play yarn this morning - I'd gotten a gift of enough fiber to sink a ship from a very special benefactor, and was playing with some top from that. I think in fear of overspinning, I have a tendency to spin too loosely, so I was using the top to practice tightening up my spin. In addition, I've had my wheel out and about and have let a few other people try to spin a bit, so in the midst of my yarn there are chunks where newbies were, which is sort of sweet. I plied it this morning, and it looks quite nice, dispite the chunks here and there... I think I'll take Jen's suggestion and just hang onto it in case I want the color for an accent somewhere along the way. I've got something on all four bobbins, so I either need more bobbins (and I'd like them whether or not "need" is the appropriate term) or I need to finish spinning the bobbin of the red/black wool/mohair blend that I've got a bobbin and a half of. If I ply that together, I can free up two bobbins at once. Plus I do have a project in mind for that, so I can keep plugging along on that.

That's enough for now - my thumb just cramped up (completely taking me out of contention for the American Thumb Wrestling team, even if I had shown an aptitude for it). So until tomorrow, sing along with me - "One of these things is not like the other - one of these things just doesn't belong! Can you tell me which thing is not like the other before I finish this song?"
