Sheep Sheep Sheep SheepSheepSheepSheepSheep

My first wedding anniversary is three months from today.

GB? I love ewe.
(how's that for a hint?)

And since it is October 1st, and a chill is in the air (or maybe it's just my office) my thoughts are turning to the holidays. This will be our first Christmas married, and I'd like to start developing some holiday traditions of our own.

So here's what I'm thinking - you tell me. What do you do every holiday season that really makes it special for you? We've got a twelve-year-old who will probably spend Christmas morning with his mom, and then the afternoon with us, so that's something to consider, but other than that, I want to hear all those heart-warming, tear-jerking traditions... give 'em to me!

I'm off to the VA FFF this weekend - details Monday!

edited to add:
By the way, I know it's way the heck down there on my sidebar, but I think I deserve some props for a 3.2 lb weight loss this week. Weight Watchers Core Plan ROCKS.

Woohoo

Amie, first Christmases are great! Congrats to you.

Our traditions have evolved from just doing things we like to do together. We go to a tree farm to chop down our tree. We make cookies together (a mix of both family's recipes). We give eachother one homemade gift (one year my hubby made a rabbit hutch for me. Oh, and gave me a rabbit!). We wrap gifts for eachother in fabric that we reuse every year to try to honor the earth. We select a charity and do something 'big' for them at Christmastime. And on either Christmas eve or Christmas day, we watch "White Christmas" (whcih is a huge gift from Tim to me, since he HATES musicals. He is always so sweet when I weep at the end). Nothing big, or incredibly different, but things we treasure. Thanks for giving me a chance to remember them all. yay Christmas!

You'll definitely want to buy a Christmas ornament each year, the first one being the most special, of course. :-)

We buy one dated ornament a year, and we make popcorn balls.

My husband stopped one tradition that he started, because I told him that if my Christmas present consisted of one more piece of cast iron cookware, I would use it on him in a very painful way. :-)

Oh, I want one of those sheep, too! I once asked my husband if I he would get me an alpaca and he said, "Sure!" I was so excited. . . then he said, "Can I get that at the mall?" Needless to say I don't have one!

Happy Anniversary!
