I still haven't recovered. This thyroid thing means I'm tired all the time, and add to that the excitement of Maryland, the long, fun, emotional days of visiting with very much beloved friends, and it takes a body a while to recover. But I have another doctor's appointment Monday morning, which will most likely include a biopsy, so hopefully things will be getting better soon (I keep hoping this, and they just keep scheduling more tests. Better soon will come, right???)

Wednesday night I demonstrated spinning for the Guild. We meet at a local police station meeting room, and it's a nice large space, but it echoes like crazy. It's really, really difficult to hear anything, and even more difficult to concentrate. My spinning was atrocious, and when I left, I felt like I'd been steam rolled.

Then yesterday I reorganized my stash. I have a 33-gallon tub of raw fleece, mostly alpaca, and the new fleece I bought this week. I have a 33-gallon tub of top and rovings. I have a 33-gallon tub of "winter" yarns, and a 33-gallon tub of "summer" and sock yarns. And then two cabinets full of other yarn and roving. Golly.

This morning I finished an audiobook on the way to work. I actually sat in the parking lot for half an hour because I was so close to the end. The Life of Pi.

Fabulous. Fascinating. I want to start it all over again right now. I loved how the character reacts to things, with intelligence and compassion. I love the realization that in order to survive with something that can be so deadly to one, one doesn't need to kill the threat, but co-exist peacefully. I love the thought that "love is unbelievable, ask any lover, God is unbelieveable, ask any believer..."

Just a really, really beautiful, amazing book. Brilliant.

Did I mention I liked it?

Tonight I'm teaching my first Knitting with Wire class. So far I only have one student signed up, and I'm sorta hoping it stays that way, because the one is my fast student from knitting during the week. GB has been away on business all week, and I'm exausted, so I'm hoping class will go easily and quickly and I can go see my husband. There's a novel idea, eh?

Then tomorrow is a Knitathon at AC Moore. I get paid for "demonstrating", which is basically sitting there and knitting. I feel uncomfortable knitting there on yarn bought elsewhere, so I'll start a pair of socks for myself with the Lion Brand Magic Stripes that they sell. Hopefully I can get the toe done tonight, then I can just knit up the foot tomorrow.

And Sunday I've promised Aslan I will languish away in bed with him. He gets very upset when I'm away from home too much. A guy needs some mommy time, ya know?

I'll let you know how the tests go Monday if I have any results. Have a good weekend!

Oh, Amie, I hope your tests go well on Monday. It's such a drag to have tests done and then have to wait.

Wow, you have quite a stash. Mine is small in comparison, my husband will be so happy to hear that. :)

Take it easy this weekend as much as possible, you obviously need it. I always remember something someone told me a few years ago, "You must take care of your body for it to take care of you." Which is so true.

But, really, what did you think about the book?? (Come on, don't be shy!) Hope you're feeling better soon, Rose!

Hi Amie:

I hope all the tests go well. You certainly need some rest to contemplate all your great stuff! Now onto LIfe of PI. I bought the book on a strong recomendation of a good friend and i rarely buy fiction as I read to fast and don't like to reread. I really enjoyed it from the start untill right before the last page. Through out the book I was convinced that living on the raft with the tiger was possable. I was amazed entralled until I read the last bit by the Japanesse boat company people where Pi realtes that it wasn't the tiger, zebra and orangatang sp? but the french cook his mother and a seamen. It just crushed my world. It didn't really happen Pi made it up all while living on a raft by himself. I'm still disapointed and pissed about it. I guess that's what good fiction does. it makes you think about the book long after yopu've finished reading it.

when I was being diagnosed, it seemed so endless, but at least you know something now.
I know what you are going through because I went through it
I am so sorry that you or anyone else has to have this.
I know what it did to me, I wish no one else would ever have to go through it

When I did these rounds of tests, the biopsy was the last one before I got a diagnosis. Unfortunately, it was about a week before the biopsy results came back. Hang in there.

Only a 33 gal tub? I think you need more.

I'll be thinking of you, and hoping the tests all go smoothly.

Feel better soon, Amie!

I was going to go get this book from the library, but now I don't need to because MaryEllen told me how it ends. It takes away from the whole book if you know the ending - you don't read the book the same way. :-(

My husband just finished listening to Life of Pi, so I'm next--I'm glad to hear the good review.

Take care of yourself!
