and now for something completely different....

My wrist is hurting. I suspect it's a combination of stress, general weakness from the thyroid thing, and the fact that I've been knitting for about eight hours a day for the past week and a half since becoming unemployed. So I'm not knitting tonight (she says, with quivering lip yearning and sorrow firm resolve). Tomorrow too, other than the class I have to teach in the morning. Sigh.

This means I didn't get to get started on the Round Robin socks. A winner has been decided, though. I checked several times during the first day, and it teetered back and forth between Drooping Elm and Fern. So I decided to give it another day, and while the lead was never overwhelming, it became clear that the Fern voters would not give in. By the second day the lead was fairly well established, and at exactly 48 hours it had been holding for sometime.

So Fern it is!

NEXT week.

This week, it's resting the wrist. A little more spinning

And a little housekeeping. (get real)

Oh, not for me.

For Rosenkrantz, Gildenstern and Ophelia.

(actually, it goes, left to right, Rosenkrantz, Ophelia, and Gildenstern, pardon the butt shot on him)

You know, Aslan's goldfish.

They are spending the day in a maximum security fishy jail

(security consisting of the lid of their aquarium sitting on top of the fishbowl. Not because I think they're going to break out, but because I suspect there might be some willing helpers in freeing them...)

while their previous home settles back into beauty.

Otherwise the year of Two-Thousand-sixSocks is in full swing - in less than twenty-four hours we're already one percent there!

Knit on!!! (not me, but ... oh, you know...)

Oh I HATE when I have to take time off for wrist pain! It happens whenever I knit for more than a couple of hours a day. Drives me nuts trying to find something else to do!!!

I suspect this 2,000 socks will be done by the end of February.
I have 3 inches done on sock Two. It works out to something like 20,000 stitches per sock. Bigfoot said, "But they're small stitches." Oy.
