Public Service Announcement.

Friends don't let friends spin and talk.

Even with a designated phone-holder, you simply aren't as focussed as you think you are, and that's when accidents happen.

Spinning and talking causes you to spin distractedly. It might even mean something as horrible as attempting to ply in the same direction you spun the singles.

Of course, no one I know would be that stupid, I'm just sayin'

If, however, you are one of those people so sick as to enjoy playiing with yarn in any form, and with the stubborness of a thousand pissed off mules patience of a saint, in no time at all* you could turn that tangle into this beauty. Sure, it would involve unplying approximately six inches at a time of that overtwisted mess by hand and replying it correctly until you've fixed all 50 yards that were mutilated before you realized your moronic mistake, in a slow and painstaking process, but it could be done.**

Isn't that gorgeous? That's sock yarn spun from the scrappings of my class with Judith at MD. I separated out all the colors (I think there were five, a dark navy blue, a turquoise, a rich purple, a dark kelly green, and a bright lime) and randomly switched them when spinning the singles. My intent was to force all the colors to ply against all the others in a cacophonous way, with no order or sense. It worked! There are a few small sections where a color plied against itself, but most of the time it's just a bright clash, and it really sparkles.

I also have some of the lime green that will be the toes and heels, that has to be plied today. The socks will obviously not be identical, but they will definitely be fun.

* "no time at all" as measured by Aslan, who was doing this

time as measured by me was the length of How Stella Got Her Groove Back minus the length of all scenes in which Taye Diggs had his shirt off.

** no singles were lost in the making of this blog entry - not even one yard. Take that, tangles!

It IS gorgeous, but wow . . . that does require a rather large amount of patience/stubbornness, doesn't it? Well worth it, though!

LOL! I've done that too! Both the plying-in-the-wrong-direction-for-far-too-long-before-I-realized-what-I-had-done-and-why-the-yarn-looked-so-weird, and the fixing of said mistake. Nice job on the fix, and the finished product os gorgeous!

What great yarn! It looks like Trekking XXL--my latest new sock yarn obsession. I can't wait to see how it knits up.
