Two-Thousand-Socks Toes

The first step is to admit I am powerless over my knitters-ADD.

As is evidenced by this:

that's four socks, a mitten, and a glove, in various stages of abandon. (there is another, but it's a gift sock, and therefore can't be seen. I also owe my brother another sock, but that hasn't been started yet. I'm sure if you were to give me a little time I'd come up with several more socks. Let's move on, shall we?)

The second step is to ignore the variety of abandon and wind a ball for a new pair.

The third step is to take occasional breaks from knitting by spinning sock yarn on your beautiful Delphine.

(in this shot you can see how clever I am. I finally outsmarted the cats by rigging a bandana up as a little bag which hangs off the mother-of-all and holds my fiber, thereby eliminating the change to play with it down by my feet while I'm trying to spin.)
This is lovely wool that I have in two slightly different shade of dark green (that is the darker shade there) and I'll ply it with some Firestar for strength (this stuff)

~~~~~~~~
It's fortunate that my efforts in finishing socks aren't needed in our cause. With very little assistance from me, y'all have hit 744 socks in less than six weeks. Just over 10% through the year and we're 37% of the way there! Knit on!
That is a brilliant idea for a, well, distaff for lack of a better term. I might have to consider doing the same.
Add two more pairs to the sock count: (1) RĂșndiamhair Socks; (2) Little Rune Socks.
I have decided that socks must be knit two at a time, even if on different sets of needles, or else they won't get done. That is why my half-finished jaywalker (singular) is so lonely.
Seven abandonings constitutes wild abandon. Possibly even reckless abandon. I wouldn't worry about it. You've got everybody else knitting socks, so you don't have to.
I can relate!!! I have to limit myself to only 2 socks on the needles at a time, or I will have a load of orphans all over the house :-)
Your blog is great! Thanks for the feedback on stitch markers. I will be a vendor at Maryland this year (first time!) with my dad who is a wood turner, he also sharpens hand shears and scissors.
We are in Barn 3 booth 14 under the name of G&W. Maryland does not allow you to have two seperate vendors in one booth, so dad and I combined businesses for this event.
Will you be going?
Amie, it's okay, I feel your pain. I only have one pair of socks on the needles at one time because I use the same pair of needles for all of my socks. I have to or else I would get bored and put them down for years. I did that when I had several sets of dpn's but since switching to 2circs I have a better handle on the situation. Now sweaters that's a whole other problem. And to think I'm starting something new tomorrow for the Olympics. :)
