5 Hr Baby Sw Ball (contd)
After all that work, I did briefly consider leaving it in this form....
but instead, I started this last night
There's not enough to do the full shawl (Feather and Fan from Gathering of Lace) but I have a friend who just found out she's having a healthy baby girl, and so I figured this would make a blanket that could be justified as traditional (lace wool) for the grandma's but still is psychadelic enough to fit into her life (those colors are a little acid trippy on the lace, no?) . I mean, the full shawl is nearly 6 feet across, and the baby will probably be a little smaller than that. So a smaller blanket would be fine - I'll just stop when I run out of yarn (that should be easy to remember, since I won't have anymore yarn)
And, what's this little guy?
A little sheepy stitch marker, from the same place of creation as my flock of needles
This is about an hour and a half of knitting... and seriously, when you look at this, don't you have the urge to put on some Doors or Hendrix or something?
Now, I need to go see if vision problems are a side effect of this thyroid thing. She-who-swears-she-doesn't-like-lace-on-varigated-yarn has two lace projects going, and both are on varigated yarn....

sometimes (and just sometimes mind you) the perfect yarn is not the perfect color.. but we do it anyway.. b'c we know it will be good.
I love varigated yarn
bright colors
and lace
hahaha
vi
I think that looks lovely. Variegated yarn and Lace are a tough match, but when they work together, they're fabulous together!
Hey, that looks groovy! ;)
I'm fairly faint from the lust of the sheep knitting needles and stitch marker! I'm writing to their creator for price quotes immediately!
That is really lovely! I need to make something like that now.
"scuse me, while i kiss this guy. . . " um, wait. that doesn't sound right. coming from the original tie dye hippie (no, i was born in 66, but i was born 20 years too late, peace and love, man) that is too cool. i can't wait to see the finished project.
Looks perfect for the "summer of lace". Hendrix, perhaps some Dead or Joplin. But really, when I really think about it , since this is for a girl baby the tunes should be all women... Joplin, and throw in the "folks" too - Baez, Joni Mitchell, Judy Collins.
Ahhh... that's perfect! Her mommy and I often bonded over our love for Janis!
