Lanyards

Sweet Delphine has an exciting summer ahead of her.

After playing with her for a few more months, she and I have decided that she should have more ratios. So we looked around very carefully, and checked our schedules, and made some applications, and then scholarship applications, and finally word came back and we were accepted, and Delphine is going to camp!

We think Camp Merlin Tree is just the right fit for us.

You might remember Merlin Tree, as Counselor Dave is the one who restored Loireag so beautifully.

Delphine has promised to write frequently, watch out for poison ivy and wear bug repellant, and make me lots of lanyards while she's away. She leaves with Counselor Dave after The Festival this weekend.

She's so excited, she's already packed - there she is with her favorite stuffed animal (a pink Serta sheep)and her sleeping bag, all set to go.

I'm all set, too, getting ready to pick Erica up from the airport tomorrow, then spend the weekend in a fiber frenzy of fun with friends. That means I probably won't be able to check back until Monday sometime, so you guys behave, keep knitting socks (the tally up there is all the socks commented or e-mailed to me, and in the zonkboard over there up through Kate & her husband) ... OH! And if you're at MD, I'll have a yellow rose in my hair! Say hi!

Remind Delphine that she is not to sneak out at night with boys!

Can't wait can't wait can't wait to see you.

Make sure Delphine has money to make a phone call in case she gets into trouble.

And one more sock is completed!

Can I be first in line to adopt some baby wheels?

But seriously, did you make sure Delphine has sunscreen?

I've finally completed a pair of socks!! WHOOOO! Of course they aren't for me but for the Divine Miss M. But she really likes them and that's what ultimately counts!

Hope to see you at the Fest!

I'm knitting away on my 2 socks at once so maybe I can make it into the final phase....who knows, maybe even win....wouldn't that be too fantastic?

Gotta' love those pics of the cats who look so darned adorable. Wishing you and the "gang" a great fiber weekend....have a toast on me when you raise those wine glasses.

I know you've been thinking it would never come to this, Sweetie, but I have actually finished the sock!
Furthermore, I'm eager to start the second one!
I'm trying hard to be modest about my accomplishment (and to ignore the tiny - ok, not really tiny- amount of help I needed), but I am soooooooo proud of myself.
I'm looking for ways to work it into casual conversations. Any suggestions?
Love,
Mom

Good lord, I finally finished a sock. I think it's been literally months since I finished anything much less a sock. Whenever I last reported one here was the last time I finished anything. Alas, not even a full pair of socks, just one lonely sock. Between a sore wrist and other distractions, I haven't been knitting much, and to top it all off this morning, just to make sure my wrist doesn't improve too quickly, I tripped and fell this morning while jogging, landing most of my weight on one knee and--you got it--the sore wrist. At least it's an extra purty sock--the genius of Evelyn Clark's Go With the Flow socks, in dreamy Elann Baby Cashmere. Maybe one day it will have a friend.
